The Deadloch fans have been waiting for more since Season 1 hit screens in 2023. A fresh set of details about production, casting, and location have been revealed. Season 2 of Deadloch is expected in mid-2026.

Quick TL;DR

  • Deadloch Season 2 has been officially greenlit and will be six episodes.
  • Filming took place in Australia’s Northern Territory (Darwin & surrounds) and in Brisbane, and Prime Video posted “That’s a wrap” after production finished.
  • Luke Hemsworth is among the new cast additions; he’ll play a Territory icon named Jason Wade (reported by trade outlets).
  • Prime Video has not announced an exact release date — the season is expected to be released in 2026, but the day/month haven’t been set publicly.

Renewal and Production

Prime Video officially renewed Deadloch for a second season in July 2024. The streamer and production partners announced that Season 2 would be a six-part series and go into production later that year.

Production moved north: the second season filmed in the Northern Territory (including Darwin and nearby locations) before continuing work in Brisbane, Queensland. That shift was part of the official production announcement and was supported by local screen bodies.

Prime Video AU/NZ (the regional account) then posted a “That’s a wrap on Season 2 of Deadloch” message, confirming filming has finished. The shoot lasted roughly 69 days, according to trade publications and local outlets. The show should now be in post-production after filming.

Fallout Season 2 Release Date

Episode counts

Season 2 will have six episodes, down from eight in Season 1. This was stated in the initial renewal/production notices and repeated in coverage by industry press.

New Arrivals and Returning Cast

The core cast returns: Kate Box (Dulcie Collins), Madeleine Sami (Eddie Redcliffe), Nina Oyama (Abby Matsuda) and Alicia Gardiner (Cath York) are all confirmed to be back.

The second season also brings multiple new cast members. Notably, Luke Hemsworth is joining the cast and has been reported to play Jason Wade, a crocodile-wrangling, Territory-style TV personality / wildlife park owner. Several trade outlets and cast listings confirm his addition.

Other new cast names were announced in Amazon’s production press materials and coverage. The season has a larger local cast to reflect its Northern Territory setting.

Deadloch Season 2 Plot

Season 1 was set in a small Tasmanian town. Season 2 moves the action to Australia’s Top End — Darwin and surrounding Territory locations — tying back to Eddie’s past in the north.

The official production notes and local press describe the season as leaning into the Territory’s landscapes and culture, with a storyline that opens with the investigation into the death of Eddie’s former partner (“Bushy”) and the discovery of other high-profile local deaths.

Expect a warmer, “Top End” backdrop rather than Tasmania’s cold mist.

Release date status — what we know (and don’t)

Prime Video has not given an exact release date. Industry listings like JustWatch and official press say Season 2 will land on Prime Video in 2026, but no month or day has been confirmed. That means we’re waiting on Prime Video for the final schedule and any trailer/marketing dates.

Filming is wrapped and the show is in post-production, but post work (editing, sound, final color, possible VFX) can still take several months — which is why Prime has not publicly pinned an air date yet.
